    Dorothy H. Weaver of Smyrna, formerly of Middletown, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Courtland Manor in Dover. She was 80 years old.
    Mrs. Weaver was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late George W. and Myrtle Hearne, Sr.
    She was a graduate of Middletown High School and the University of Delaware. Dorothy worked for the Delaware Division of Health and Social Services for 27 years, starting as a social worker and rising to the position of head administrator for Kent County.
    Mrs. Weaver was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Middletown and served on its Altar Guild.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Weaver Sr.; and her son, Norris C. Weaver.
    She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Becky Weaver Jr. of Newark; a daughter and a son-in-law, Dorothy A. and Benny Biggs of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Robert H. Weaver III and his wife, Siobhan, of Jennersville, Pa., Aubrey A. Weaver of Newark, Christine R. Biggs of Smyrna, and Matthew L. Biggs and his wife, Shanon, of Smyrna; three great-grandchildren, Robert D. Weaver and Ashleigh E. Weaver of Jennersville, Pa., and Andersyn Biggs of Smyrna; and brother, George W. Hearne Jr.
    A private burial service will be held in Old St. Anne’s Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Dorothy be sent to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
