James John “Jimmers” Starkey Jr. of Townsend passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at his home. He was 22.
Mr. Starkey was born Oct. 16, 1987, in Newark, son of James John Starkey Sr. and Evelyn Marie Sniadecki Leake, both of Middletown.
He was a self-employed tattoo artist. He was an excellent drawer and excelled in his craft. Besides drawing, his hobbies included working on his rap music. He had previously worked for his uncle as an installer for premier Accessories of Newark.
Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Starkey; an uncle, Charles Sayers; and a brother, Joshua Starkey.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Judith M. Riley of Townsend; his maternal grandfather, Daniel G. Sniadecki Sr. of Dover; his paternal grandmother, Sandra Lee Starkey of Newark; his stepfather, Michael Leake of Middletown; his soon to be stepmother, Gloria Martinez of Middletown; a daughter, Aleceya L. Ford-Starkey of New Castle; two sons, Dominic J. and Demitri J. Quinn-Starkey, both of North East, Md.; two sisters, LeeAnn M. and Jayla M. Starkey, both of Middletown; a brother, Austin T. Starkey of Middletown; an uncle, Daniel G. Sniadecki Jr., with whom he lived; his great-grandparents, John and Mary Latshaw of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010. at 11 a.m. in the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church located at 4519 S. DuPont Parkway, (Route 13), Townsend.
Burial will be private.
