Dorothy V. “Dot” Neff of Townsend went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 31, 2009. She was 76.
Mrs. Neff was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Roanoke, Va., daughter of the late Frank E. and Doris O. (Chilton) Eggleston.
She was a member of the M.O.T. Jean Brich Senior Center and Townsend Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Neff’s loved to play bingo and to visit Dover Downs slots. Her favorite loves were dolphins and Garfield. While living in Panama City, Fla., she had the opportunity to touch and talk to a dolphin from the side of a fishing boat in the Gulf.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances E. Thompson, of Hampton, Va.; and by her oldest son, Frank E. Martin, of Millington, Tenn.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, John L. Neff and Dolly of Townsend, and Mike Neff Sr., Ronald Neff, and James and Helenann Neff, all of Brookville, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Martin; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces; and a sister-in-law.
A memorial service for will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. at Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, 4519 S. DuPont Highway, Townsend, where friends call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.
