Harriet M. Brinkley departed this life Friday, May 8, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Mrs. Brinkley was born and raised in Middletown.
She attended the public schools in Middletown, and received her diploma.
Mrs. Brinkley was a life member of Ringgold Chapel AME Church, where she served on several boards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Harriet Ashe; her husband, Edgar Brinkley Sr.; a son, Terrance; and a daughter, Allison.
She is survived by two daughters and a stepson-in-law, Dorothea and Reginald Grinnage, and Bertha Smith; six sons and two daughters-in-law, the Rev. Joseph M. Ashe, Elwood Ashe, Edgar T. Brinkley Jr., Dana A. and Ida Brinkley, Kenneth B. and Diana Brinkley, and Gary E. Brinkley; a sister, Emily Ashe; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Jackson; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, May 13, at the Ringgold Chapel AME Church, Middletown.
