Franklin Havens of Delaware City died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at his home. He was 73.
Mr. Havens was born on May 18, 1936, in Port Penn, son of the late Archie Havens and Anna Robinson Havens.
He was employed in maintenance with Lafarge Corporation, formerly located at the Port of Wilmington, from where he retired after 30 years.
Mr. Havens enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting and fishing, as well as bowling in both the Men’s Major and Wednesday Night Mixed Leagues at the Delaware City Recreation Club.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia G. Jackson Havens; two daughters and a son-in-law, Franklin P. and Leigh Ann Havens, and BeLinda L. and Ivan H. Hall; a son and a daughter-in-law, L. Joseph Sr. and Helen J. Havens.; a stepdaughter and a stepson-in-law, Donna K. and Dennis R. Moore; a sister, Betty Murphy; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Archie Havens, James and Dot Havens, Denny and Marie Havens and George Havens; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m., at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton St., Delaware City, where friends may call two hours earlier.
