    Cecilia Rose Mucha of Newark, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Christiana Hospital. She was 87.
    Mrs. Mucha was born Stanislava Ochenkowski on June 12, 1921, in Wilmington.
    She was a 1939 graduate of Wilmington High School, where she excelled in art.
    She was a talented homemaker throughout her life, but also worked for the Wilmington Railroad during World War II and as an Avon representative in the 1970s.
    Mrs. Mucha was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in New Castle and The Parish of Saint Ann in Bethany Beach. She also was a longtime member of the Howard Weston Senior Center.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward Mucha Sr., in 1991; her parents, Stanislaw and Feliksa (Pierwsza) Ochenkowski; four sisters, Catherine Ochenkowski, Irene Ochenkowski, Helen Popper and Jeanette Draper; and a brother, Henry Ochenkowski.
    She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward Jr. and Ellen Mucha of Lewes, Ronald Mucha of New Castle, Robert and Therese Mucha of Harrington and John Muchas of Wilmington; a daughter and a son-in-law, Cecilia and Spencer Hirata of Chadds Ford, Pa.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Donna, Eric, Madison and Molly; and five great-grandchildren, Vernon III, Connor, Megan, Katie and Julie.
    The family extends their gratitude to the nursing and aide staff at Churchman Village for years of dedicated care given to their mother. They especially thank Shelly Leigh Funk and Anita Harding for their thoughtful care and compassion that always brought a smile to our mother’s face.
    Friends may call at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
    Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Churchman Village Recreation Fund, 4949 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
