Obituary for Richard Kendall Hornbeck

    Richard Kendall Hornbeck of Townsend, formerly of Unity and Murrysville, Pa., died Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He was 71.
    Mr. Hornbeck was a 1960 graduate of Penn State University with an electrical engineering degree and a 1970 graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in business.
    He retired from Westinghouse after 30 years of service.
    In his spare time, Mr. Hornbeck enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was a four-time winner of the coveted Kendall Open Golf Championship. His charming wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
    He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Annette (Poindexter) Hornbeck; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James Richard and Deborah Hornbeck, and Kenneth Aaron and Pamela Hornbeck; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mary Deborah and Benjamin Leatherland; four grandchildren, Cole, Jake, Olivia, Carson and Jack; a brother and a sister-in-law, Charles Aaron and Shari Hornbeck Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 5, at Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd./Roth Chapel, 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills, Pittsburgh, Pa.
    Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200 Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
