The Jaguars defeated Hodgson Vo-Tech 3-0 Wednesday to finish 7-0 in Flight A of the Blue Hen Conference. Now they'll face Flight B champ Brandywine Monday for the conference title.
The Appoquinimink High School volleyball team defeated Hodgson Vo-Tech 3-0 Wednesday to win the Blue Hen Conference Flight A title.
The Jaguars posted a perfect 7-0 record against Flight A opponents.
Now Appoquinimink will face Flight B champ Brandywine Monday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. for the conference title at Brandywine High School, 1400 Foulk Road, Wilmington.
The Bulldogs finished 7-0 in Flight B and are now 11-2 with two non-flight matches left: Thursday against Sanford and Friday vs. Concord.
Appoquinimink finished the regular season 10-5 overall.
The team's undefeated record in Flight A included wins over Middletown, St. Georges Tech, Concord, William Penn, Newark, Delcastle and Hodgson.
The Jaguars also posted victories over non-conference opponents Polytech, Wilmington Christian and Caesar Rodney while falling to non-conference foes Charter School of Wilmington, Delaware Military Academy, Ursuline Academy, St. Elizabeth and Concord.
The season also featured a six-match winning streak.
The roster of the Flight A champion Jaguars includes:
•Seniors Caelan Brooks, Carly Burns, Samantha Hrycak, Brooke Miller, Sara Mullen and Mary Vallely;
•Juniors Madeline Aniunas, Emily Black, Emily Brown, Katy DeSatnick, Brianna DiStefano and Jillian Morris;
•Sophomores Megan Aube and Jillian Wyatt;
•Freshman Alyssa White.
The head coach is Brandi Anderson, assisted by junior varsity coach Jennifer Loftus, freshman coach Jessica Fogiel, and volunteer assistant coach Barry Hudson.
