In a battle of unbeatens, the Jaguars' softball team prevailed 2-1 at Caravel Academy Thursday night

The Appoquinimink High School softball team improved to 9-0 with a 2-1 victory on the road at previously unbeaten Caravel Academy Thursday night.

The Jaguars took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Tayler Viola scored on Mallory Weir's fielder's choice.

Caravel tied the game in the in the bottom of the sixth after Natalie Paoli doubled and scored on a single by Madelyn Beres.

The Jaguars regained the lead in the top of the seventh when Andrea Johnson doubled to bring home Maddie Bauerle.

Appoquinimink starter Kourtney McNatt pitched five-and-a-third strong innings, scattering four hits and allowing one run.

Autumn Gentry relieved her, going an inning and two-thirds, retiring all five batters she faced to earn the win.
