Wilmington, Del. —
On Tuesday August 31, ex-Philadelphia Eagles great Jon Runyan will kick off the Wilmington Memory Walk 2010 at Shipley Manor, 2723 Shipley Road at 5 p.m. He will join other members of the New Castle County community as they gear up for another year of fundraising.
In addition to the opportunity to mingle with Runyan, and hear his personal story of how Alzheimer’s affected his life, the Shipley event will be an opportunity for individuals, Memory Walk teams and professionals in the healthcare industry to receive information about Alzheimer’s disease, Memory Walk, the Alzheimer’s Association and the programs and services available to the 26,000 persons living with Alzheimer’s in Delaware.
Nearly 1,500 walkers are expected to participate in the 2010 Wilmington Walk on Saturday Oct. 9, one of five Delaware Valley Chapter walks. All funds raised through Memory Walk support the free programs and services provided by the Chapter. Delaware will host another walk in Rehoboth on Oct. 2 at Grove Park.
Register for the Wilmington Memory Walk by calling Carolyn Moloney at 302-633-4420 or visiting http://memorywalk2010.kintera.org/Wilmington. For information on other walks visit www.alz.org/desjsepa.
