Sports editor Craig Anderson e-mailed questions to Ryan Haas, the Blue Hen Conference player of the year who recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Delaware State University:
Q: What were you thinking and feeling as you signed the letter of intent with Delaware State?
    A:
I was really excited to be given the opportunity to play D-I baseball and receive such an awesome scholarship.
Q: What impressed you about the coach JP Blandin and the DSU baseball program?
    A:
I was really impressed with their new athletic training facilities, their program and the opportunities to improve my game. They really seem to care about their athletes and making them the best players possible. They also really stress their academics and succeeding in school.
Q: Do you have any goals for college baseball and beyond?
    A:
I would like to start all four years, improve my game and possibly go to the next level.
Q: What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
    A:
I will be playing on the Middletown Legion team and a few final tournaments with my travel team The DE Angels at Sports at the Beach. I am going to start training and getting prepared for next season. Work a little and chill.
Q: What will you miss about playing baseball for Middletown?
    A:
I will really miss the team. We had a really tight bond and were a very close group. We had a lot of fun together. I had a great relationship with my coaches, enjoyed playing our first year at our new field and will miss having one more chance to try and get the state title.
