     Gymnasts from First State Gymnastics in Newark traveled to Landover, Md. on Feb. 12 to 14 for the 18th annual East Coast Classic.
     Representing the Level 7 team in the 13-year-old age group were Ashley Bailey a seventh grader at Everett Meredith Middle School and Brooke Parker, an eighth grader at St. Anne's Episcopal School. Ashley placed fourth on balance beam scoring a 9.1 and earned scores of 8.8 on vault and 8.45 on floor. Brooke scored a 9.05 for a fourth place finish on vault and 8.6 on Beam. The Level 7 team placed second.
     Erin Lash, a seventh grader at Alfred G. Waters Middle School, competed as a 12-year-old level 8. She won the floor exercise with a score of 9.3 and placed second on uneven bars scoring 9.050. Erin finished fourth in the All Around competition.
     Appoquinimink High freshman Jenny Lash represented Level 9 in the 15-year-old age group. Jenny scored 9.050 on vault for first place and 9.275 on floor for a second place finish. She placed second in the all around. The Level 9 team placed fourth.
    Jenny also qualified to an event finals competition for level 9's in both the floor and vault. She placed second on floor with a 9.45 and fourth on vault scoring 9.225.
    First State Gymnastics will host the State Championships on March 21.
