A Middletown man who police found with heroin on him in the area of Lakewood Apartments resisted arrest and injured the arresting officer, police said.

Police stopped Lateef A. Dickerson, 28, of the 100 block of East Hampstead Court Sept. 18 as he was walking through the area of Lakewood Apartments at around 12:50 p.m.

When officers Dickerson they found that he was in possession of a small quantity of heroin and marijuana.

As officers tried to take Dickerson into custody in the 300 block of North Broad Street, police said that he "began to actively resist the officer's attempts to take him into custody," and that "during the course of the struggle, one of the officers was struck in the face causing a facial injury."

Dickerson was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and heroin, criminal impersonation and trespassing.

Police said that Dickerson was wanted on multiple warrants from five different agencies.
