All schools in the Appoquinimink School District will be closed Friday due to expected low temperatures. Other school districts in the state will also be closed.

Only 12-month employees in the Appo school district are to report to work on Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for our area and is predicting near record-breaking cold for tomorrow.

Arctic air will arrive in full force tonight. Wind chills will reach -10 to -15 degrees, according to the agency.

The low wind chills may lead to frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Water pipes that are marginally near freezing will freeze solid tonight and then damage will develop in the subsequent thaw.
