Football game will take place as scheduled.

Appoquinimink School District officials were forced to cancel the Cavaliers' football homecoming parade that was scheduled for this afternoon, Friday, Oct. 2, due to severe weather.

The football game at 7:30 p.m. tonight will go on as scheduled, but the homecoming festivities at half time have been moved.

"We will announce the Homecoming Court and crown our King and Queen during the Pep Rally [within the school day]. Students participating in the Homecoming Court do not have to dress up. They may dress in their spirited Cavalier gear," according to a statement by the school district that was sent to students and their parents Thursday afternoon.

The Cavaliers' Homecoming Dance is still scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3rd, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain and some wind gusts are expected throughout the day Friday into tonight.
