“When I learned that Bike Delaware was instrumental in the drastic increase in the League of American Bicyclists (LAB)' ranking of bicycle-friendly states, I knew Bike Delaware was doing something right and doing something BIG. This LAB program recognizes best practices, actions by state departments of transportation and state legislatures. They are interested in long-term policy change, not just riding in beautiful scenery. Delaware was rated thirty-one ten years ago, in 2008. In 2009, shortly after Bike Delaware was formed, Delaware's ranking jumped 22 points to number 9. In 2015 Delaware moved up to the third most bicycle-friendly state in the country and then held that rank for two years. Bike Delaware works hard to change policy with legislators and DelDOT. I got involved with Bike Delaware's board to build on this fantastic work and make Delaware a safer and more enjoyable place for bicyclists.”
