Inspired by the stories of Dr. Seuss, the musical is hosted by The Cat in the Hat and revolves around Horton the elephant's attempt to save Whoville

Or better yet, why not have the story told to you and your children by an amazing cast of more than 30 characters!

You can, if you come out to The Everett Theatre in Middletown Feb. 11, 12, 18 or 19 for the production of “Seussical: The Musical TYA”!

Come see the classic tales of Dr. Seuss bloom to life on stage, filled with both the excitement of the original story and the magic of live theatre!

Seussical features The Cat in the Hat telling the story of the Whos, living on Whoville, a tiny planet the size of a speck of dust. They float through the air until they are found by a kind and honorable elephant named Horton. Horton promises to protect the Whos no matter what, because after all, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” But Horton finds that protecting people only he knows are there is an enormous challenge filled with perils and pitfalls! Through all these hardships, Horton’s neighbor and friend Gertrude McFuzz never loses her faith in him.

Will Horton overcome ridicule, defeat danger, and escape the hands of the enemy to keep his promise? Has Gertrude placed her faith in the right elephant? Will the Whos survive or be boiled alive? Come find out and help the characters discover the true value of friendship and loyalty. And what lessons will you learn along the way? Well, here’s what some of the cast had to say:

“This story teaches people that you don’t have to change yourself to get noticed by somebody else,” said Jason Messinger, who plays Mr. Mayor.

Morgan Wallace who plays Gertrude said, “From Gertrude’s perspective, the story teaches children to persevere and go after what they want, because that’s what Gertrude does: she loves Horton and so she keeps going."

It will show children “…to use your imagination as much as possible and you can’t go too far when you use your imagination in playing games,” exclaimed an excited Cat in the Hat played by Stephanie Bailey.

“The story teaches kids what it means to make a promise, and to follow through on something that you believe in,” added Cindy Zern, who plays Mayzie La Bird.

And Dr. Seuss becomes even more magical when the iconic characters are brought to life by an amazing cast from our very own community! The whimsical set transforms the historic stage of Middletown’s grand old theatre into the fanciful world of Seuss!

“The bright colors in the set and the costumes are mesmerizing, the cast is extremely talented, and it is very fast-paced and entertaining,” stated Wallace (Gertrude).

“There are tons of colors and so many visuals, and the music is super catchy… You will go home singing it over and over!” interjected Bailey (The Cat).

So come on out, sit back and lose yourself in the wonderful, wacky, tongue-twisted world of Theodore Giesel. It’s a musical, Seussical ton of fun that you’ll be rhyming about for years to come!
