The Town of Townsend sponsored caroling and a Christmas tree lighting Sunday evening at the municipal park on Edgar Road.

As people arrived, they were served hot cocoa and cookies by members of the Appoquinimink High School National Honor Society

The carols were led by members of the Immanuel United Methodist Church Choir and songbooks were provided.

Frosty the Snowman arrived during the singing of his song, and "he began to dance around."

During the "The Twelve Days of Christmas," children from the audience volunteered to hold up signs, detailing what gift was given on each of the twelve days.

After the singing of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," the tree was lit at the circle near the gazebo.

Then Santa visited with children in the park gazebo.
