In honor of National Homemade Soup Day in February, Willey Farms near Townsend is holding its 2nd annual Vegetable Soup Cook Off on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.

Entrants can register their intent to participate until close of business on Wednesday, Feb. 10 by calling (302) 378-8441 extension 7 and asking for Donna or by sending an email to dcavender@willeyfarmsde.com.

Soups will be judged on appearance, taste, texture, aroma and adherence to the theme of vegetable soup.

The top three finishers will receive Willey Farms gift cards: 1st place - $100, 2nd place - $50, and 3rd place - $25.

Judges for the event will be 11th District State Rep. Jeff Spiegelman, local foodie and amateur chef Ed Kendall, and chiropractor Dr. Trevor Ennis.

Willey Farms is located at 4092 DuPont Parkway (U.S. Route 13), southeast of Townsend.
