A Wilmington man is awaiting sentencing for the shooting that injured a Middletown man.
Marvin Swanson, 21, has been convicted by the Delaware Department of Justice for the December 2014 shooting of Derrick Caudle, 43, of Middletown.
According to the Wilmington Police investigation, the incident occurred in the 700 block of Vandever Street in Wilmington when Caudle began arguing with Swanson about a previous drug transaction between the two, leading Caudle to punch Swanson in the face. After stumbling backward, Swanson pulled a gun and shot Caudle once in the abdomen, police said.
Deputy Attorneys General Jan van Amerongen and Matthew Frawley secured a plea of manslaughter and possession of a firearm from Swanson.
Sentencing of Caudle is expected to take place in June. The state will recommend a 10-year prison sentence, according to a Delaware Department of Justice press release on Friday.
