Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs will host 14 special programs for the Dover Days Festival, May 6-8.

The theme of Dover Days this year is “Preservation 50” in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. All programs are free.

Several programs will commemorate the 1976 restoration of the Old State House to its original 1791 appearance.

Activities at the Old State House, 25 The Green, Dover, will include “There’s a Party in the House,” featuring ‘70s music and dancing at 6 p.m. May 6; guided tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7; and “The Old State House: A True Restoration 1976-2016” exhibit on display beginning at 9 a.m. May 4.

Other activities of note include the Symposium on the Early Colonial Archaeology of the Delaware Valley Region from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 at the New Castle Court House Museum, 211 Delaware St.; and the Zwaanendael Maritime Celebration, themed “A Sailor’s Life for Me,” held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 28 at the Zwaanendael Museum, 102 Kings Highway, Lewes.
