Delaware State Police have identified the fatality as Jeffrey M. Mesh of Georgetown.

Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier has identified the man killed in a May 7 crash as Jeffrey M. Mesh, 37, of Georgetown.

Mesh was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Saw Mill Road, near Townsend.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, Fournier said.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Georgetown man died Saturday in a pickup truck crash west of Townsend.

Delaware State Police said the crash occurred at about 1:05 a.m. on Saw Mill Road south of Vandyke Greenspring Road.

The 37-year-old Georgetown man was driving a 2014 Ford F150 pickup north on Saw Mill Road when his truck ran off the road on a curve, spun, and struck a tree. The truck continued traveling north where it hit a split rail fence before coming to a stop.

The man was partially ejected through the passenger window, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There were no passengers in the truck.

Saw Mill Road was closed for about three hours after the crash.

Police are continuing the investigation and have not announced the cause of the crash.
