Denny Hamlin topped the speed charts during the final practice session for Sunday’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway.
Hamlin, who turned 59 laps around the high-banked, one-mile oval during the 55-minute session, toured the track in 22.882 seconds on Saturday afternoon for an average speed of 157.329 mph.
Hamlin is slated to start the AAA400 from the sixth starting spot. The lineup was set based on Friday’s practice speeds after qualifying was rained out.
Kevin Harvick, who will begin Sunday’s race from the pole position, posted the second-quickest lap at 156.447 mph, followed by defending series champion Kyle Busch (156.365), his older brother Kurt Busch (155.777) and rookie Chase Elliott (155.696), son of NASCAR legend Bill Elliott.
The AAA 400 is scheduled to take the green flag at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
