A woman was injured Monday evening after the vehicle she was driving hit a deer on a Middletown road.

According to New Castle County Paramedics, personnel responded to the 3700 block of Summit Bridge Road for a report of a single-vehicle collision with a deer at approximately 9:16 p.m. on May 16.

Arriving paramedics treated the driver, a 44-year-old woman, for a head injury and possible lower extremity injury before transporting her to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. She was listed in serious condition.

The Delaware State Police was on scene investigating the collision.

The Middletown Volunteer Hose Company also responded to the incident.
