Amazon recently announced milestones for its Career Choice Program.

The program covers 95 percent of the cost of tuition for Amazon. In addition to partnering with local colleges and universities, Amazon also offers on-site classrooms in its fulfillment centers to provide associates with convenient access to college-level coursework related to in-demand fields.

Hundreds of Delaware associates have enrolled. The top fields of study are commercial driver training, health care and laboratory delivery, information technology and computer science.

Amazon has made several key investments in the program including:

—Increasing the amount of tuition pre-paid for courses to $12,000 over four years

—Decreasing the time associates must be with the company to become eligible to one year

—Reducing associate commuting times by creating classrooms to its U.S. fulfillment centers and planning 25 additional classrooms.

—New fulfillment centers being built with classrooms as part of the standard blueprint

An Amazon fulfillment center is located at 560 Merrimac Ave., Middletown.
