Middletown police arrested a suspect Nov. 4 in the shooting that happened on Oct. 25 on New Street.

On Oct. 25 at about 5 p.m., officers responded to Route 299, west of Brickmill Road for a report of a vehicle accident. The accident was caused by a person who was injured in a shooting, police said.

During their investigation, officers discovered the shooting involved two males in the area of the 500 block of New Street. The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, fled from the area in a silver Buick Lacrosse and caused multiple motor vehicle accidents, police said.

Arrest warrants were issued for suspect Dominique Ringgold, 22, of Middletown, on charges of first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

On Nov. 4, Ringgold was taken into custody and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $100,00 secured bail while awaiting another court appearance.
