MOT Charter High School held its inaugural National Honor Society induction ceremony Oct. 28.

Thirty‐two students were inducted as new members of the Society. Members were selected by the chapter’s faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

The inducted students were juniors Lorenzo Alafriz, Samiyah Ali Khan, Bridget Andrews, Viktoria Brown, Nywel Cheaye, Bernadette Cunningham, Ryan Dean, Gillian DeOliveira, Cassiana Desir, Cavo Fontana, Shannon Hanggodo, Elena Ikeocha, Khadijatu Jackson, Katrina Janas, Kim Jin, Mia Kelly, Abigail Malazarte, Ben Martin, MacKenzie Myers, Mary Rairigh, Stephanie Ross, Nicholas Rouwhorst, Tyler Rouwhorst, Sydney Sapp, Shachi Shah, Vishnusundar Somasundaram, Jaana Tabalon, Carson Taylor, Taslyn Ware, Jalen Williams and Alex Yu.

“We are very proud to recognize these outstanding members of our student body. National Honor Society members are chosen for their exemplary contributions to the school and community,” said Andrea Scali and Jennifer Vail, chapter co‐advisers.

During the ceremony, attendees learned that the center candle represents the flaming torch in the center of the NHS emblem. Each of the four candles lit from the center candle symbolizes the organization’s four principles: character, scholarship, leadership and service.
