Home Instead Senior Care is encouraging the community to celebrate with local seniors during the holiday season.

The Home Instead offices serving Kent, Sussex and southern New Castle counties are helping to facilitate Be a Santa to a Senior, a community program that provides gifts and companionship to seniors who may be isolated from friends or family during the holiday season. The program is made possible through the support of area businesses, nonprofit organizations, retailers, numerous volunteers and members of the community.

Home Instead offices have partnered with numerous area organizations, including the Leo Club at Cape Henlopen High School, to help with wrapping and distribution.

Holiday shoppers are encouraged to pick up a paper ornament at a Be a Santa to a Senior trees through Jan. 2.

Holiday shoppers can choose an ornament, buy the requested gift and return it to the store with the ornament attached. Community volunteers and program partners will wrap and deliver the gifts.
