The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the Saturday morning fire in Middletown as an arson.
The Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown responded to a vehicle fire shortly before 4 a.m. in the 600 block of Village Drive in the Villagebrook Trailer Park, said Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.
The flames from the vehicle started to burn the nearby mobile home which was occupied by six people when firefighters arrived.
State fire marshal deputies were able to determine that the fire started in the vehicle and was intentionally started, Chionchio said.
There were no reported injuries. Fire damage was estimated at $10,000, Chionchio said.
The fire marshal's office is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or the State Fire Marshal’s New Castle Division at (302) 323-5375.
