Robert Marshall, chair of the Delaware State Senate Labor Committee, has announced that the committee will hold a public hearing at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at Legislative Hall, 411 Legislative Ave., Dover.
The purpose of the hearing is to give present and former Delaware Department of Corrections employees and other interested persons an opportunity to discuss working conditions in Delaware’s prisons. The hearing will provide an opportunity to discuss how working conditions in the prisons may be improved going forward.
The hearing is not being held to discuss the Feb. 1-2 incident at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center. The details of that event are presently under investigation by law enforcement agencies and will also be the subject of a special investigation announced this week by Gov. John Carney to review the facts and produce recommendations to prevent similar incidents moving forward.
