Middletown Main Street is always looking for new and innovative ways to grab the community’s attention, and that is exactly what they are hoping to do with their new creation “First Fridays,” which will take place Friday, March 3.
First Fridays will be held as a monthly event, on the first Friday of every month. Restaurants and stores around the town are invited to participate as vendors. For the inaugural event, among those participating are The Gibby Center for the Arts, The Everett Theater, Half Baked Patisserie, Sully’s Irish Pub, UNika Custom Creations, and many more.
“Main Street has been looking to add a monthly event like First Fridays for some time now,” said Nick Manerchia, President of Middletown Main Street. “We chose to begin First Fridays on Main this month because our downtown has more to offer then most people know. The Gibby Center for the Arts offers a brand-new exhibit each month that features local and national artists, opening receptions for the exhibits will take place on the First Friday of each month.”
Manerchia said the purpose of the monthly event was to give residents the chance to come out and discover all the “fantastic and unique offerings” of downtown Middletown.
“Most all of the businesses have agreed to stay open during the entirety of the event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.,” Manerchia said. “Some will be offering wine tastings, in store demos and discounts exclusive to First Fridays on Main. We want people to visit The Gibby Center for the Arts and take in a brand-new exhibit.”
Manerchia is hopeful that the new event will be well received by the citizens of Middletown, saying that he is “looking forward to a great turn-out, and successful Main Street event.”
