Carol S. Houck, now Newark city manager, will start her new job in Delaware City in May

Delaware City Council hired Carol S. Houck as the new City of Delaware City town manager during their March 20 regular meeting.

Houck held increasingly responsible positions in Newark over the past 27 years. She has been city manager for five years.

"I'm eager to engage with the Delaware City community and look forward to working with the Main Street organization to build upon its current success," Houck said. "In advance to my appointment, I’ve been spending time walking the downtown and neighborhoods and have been impressed with the welcoming atmosphere I’ve observed."

Houck will start May 31.

Current City Manager Dick Cathcart plans to retire.
