The Gunston School’s Rowing team completed their spring season with invitations to the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s National Championship Regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Competing against the top rowing programs in the country, Gunston was represented in the boy’s and girl’s varsity four-plus categories.
Gunston’s boy’s varsity four-plus reached a milestone this year by breaking out of the first round of racing for the first time in this event in program history. Later in the day the crew went on to compete in the repechage — second chance race — and placed sixth.
Representing Gunston in the boy’s varsity four-plus were Lauren Covell, class of 2017, of Annapolis, Maryland; Ben Jones, class of 2017, of Chestertown, Maryland; Ethan Boone, class of 2017, of Centreville, Maryland; Alex Papadopoulos, class of 2018, of Townsend, Delaware; and Garrett Rudolfs, class of 2018, of Centreville, Maryland.
Gunston’s girl’s four-plus placed sixth in their heat eliminating them from the regatta.
Representing Gunston in the girl’s varsity four-plus were Isabella Santoboni, class of 2020, of Annapolis, Maryland; Olivia Sherman, class of 2017, of Middletown, Delaware; Elena Sherman, class of 2019, of Middletown; Katie Easter, class of 2019, of Grasonville, Maryland; and Maddy Romberger, class of 2017, of Sudlersville, Maryland.
