A number of employees from Willey Farms on Route 13 in Townsend gathered their safety vests, gloves and garbage bags and hit the section of Route 13 in front of the market on June 14 to pick up trash in conjunction with the Adopt A Highway program.

Over the course of two days, the group collected 23 bags of trash including pieces of tire, a propane tank and assorted hubcaps, side mirrors and mud flaps.

Donna Cavender, marketing coordinator for Willey Farms, said it’s quite eye-opening to see so much trash ending up on the side of the road.
