The Middletown Mayor and Council will announce if there’s a tax increase in the proposed budget during a special meeting starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, in Town Hall at 19 W. Green St.
Mayor Kenneth L. Branner Jr. will deliver a speech, pinpointing items in the town government’s proposed budget and if a tax increase is included, said town spokeswoman Kristen Krenzer.
The meeting is more like a budget workshop, said Krenzer, and it’s the first time the council members will see the proposed budget, giving them the opportunity to ask questions, which must be done in public. After the meeting, the budget will be released to the public. It’s for the next fiscal year.
Besides the budget discussion, the agenda also includes a motion to adopt a resolution to enter into an agreement with Delaware Valley Health Trust for employee benefits.
The council is expected to vote on the budget during their next regular meeting Monday, July 3 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
A public hearing will be held during that meeting on the budget, listed on the agenda as two different motions, one for the capital budget and the other for the operational budget.
