Capano Management’s plan to construct a 288-unit apartment complex in the Westown Business Park on U.S. Route 301 is on the agenda of the Middletown Planning and Zoning Commission for Thursday, Oct. 19.

The public meeting at 7 p.m. is in Town Hall at 19 W. Green St., Middletown.

Amazon and Johnson Controls flank the 20 acres where the apartments are proposed. There’s also a dentist’s office nearby.

The application for the apartment complex is a preliminary major land development plan for 11 three-story apartment buildings and clubhouse on the parcel between Merrimac Avenue and Hedgelawn Way, and Kohl Avenue and Patriot Drive.

Also on the meeting agenda is a plan for a one-story 12,000 square-foot warehouse/office building on 1.21 acres and for a one-story 11,000 square-foot warehouse/office space on 1.08 acres. Both buildings are within the Levels Business Park and a 30-foot-wide common access easement is proposed between the buildings.

The commissioners will also consider a proposal for a neighborhood design to replace the previously approved 129,240 square-feet of commercial development with a new retail/residential apartment complex proposing 230 units and 15,500 square-feet of retail space and associated amenities.

The Planning Commission is only a recommending body. It’s up to the Middletown Town Council to give final approval.
