More than 1,200 Special Olympics Delaware athletes from schools at all levels across the state are set to take part in five Special Olympics Delaware Basketball Skills Competitions over the next three weeks, beginning Dec. 6.

At the competitions, athletes participate individually or team up with Unified Partners — peers without disabilities — to compete in different levels of dribbling, passing and shooting events. High school students and staff members from each of the host schools will serve as volunteers at the events, most whom are involved in the school’s Special Olympics partnership club.

All competitions take place from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows:

— Dec. 6, Caesar Rodney High School, 239 Old North Road, Camden, for Kent/Sussex counties high schools.

— Dec. 7 at William Penn High School, 713 E. Basin Road, New Castle, for New Castle County high schools.

— Friday, Dec. 8 at Middletown High School, 120 Silver Lake Road, for Appoquinimink School District Elementary Schools.

— Dec. 11, McKean High School, 301 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, for New Castle County elementary schools.

— Dec. 13, Sussex Technical High School, 17099 County Seat Highway, Georgetown, for Sussex County elementary schools, including Milford.

— Dec. 15, Smyrna High School, 500 Duck Creek Parkway, for Kent County elementary schools.

— Dec. 19, Seaford High School, 1575 Seamans Neck Road, for Kent/Sussex counties middle schools.

— Dec. 20, Hockessin PAL Center, 7259 Lancaster Pike, for New Castle County middle schools.
