Two Middletown Civil Air Patrol cadets earned awards at the squardron’s January Awards meeting.
Cadet Lt. Col. Jessalyn Lierenz, of Delaware Wings Middletown Cadet Squadron, was presented with Civil Air Patrol’s General Ira Eaker Award by Col. John Knowles, Civil Air Patrols Middle East region commander.
Lierenz, a Civil Air Patrol member since August 2012, is a senior at Appoquinimink High School. Lierenz attended the Tri-Wing Encampment twice and national special activities such as the Honor Guard Academy, Cadet Officers School in Montgomery Alabama and the International Air Cadet Exchange to Canada. Lierenz is also a former recipient of Delaware Wings Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer and Cadet Junior Officer of the Year awards; and also serves as a squadron member of the Delaware Wing Cadet Advisory Council.
Cadet 2nd Lt. John Pedraza, also of Delaware Wings Middletown Cadet Squadron, pinned on his current rank after earning the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award.
Pedraza, a Civil Air Patrol member since December 2015, is a sophomore at the Salesianum School. Pedraza has been an active member of the squadron attending the Tri-Wing Encampment and national special activities such as the National Emergency Services Academy in Attenborough, Indiana, where he earned his ground team leader’s qualifications and the Engineering Technologies Academy in Tennessee. Pedraza also serves as the squadrons representative to the Delaware Wing Cadet Advisory Council.
