Bridgewater College senior Amber Celen, of Townsend, was recognized for excellence by the department of sociology during the college awards ceremony April 22.
Celen received the Zygmunt Bauman Scholar Award, which is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and leadership in the classroom and exemplifies academic citizenship in the department.
Celen, a sociology and communication, technology and culture double major, is the daughter of Theodore and Janis Celen of Townsend. She is a member of Psi Chi, an international psychology honor society; Lambda Pi Eta, a national communication studies honor society; and Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. She is also a member of the college’s Flory Honors Program and serves as a tutor in the department of sociology.
Celen is also a member of the Philomathes Society, Bridgewater’s scholastic honor society and Alpha Chi, a national scholastic honor society.
