The Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church has transferred Tunnell to Millsboro. Her last Sunday as pastor of the Odessa church will be June 24.

The Bishop and Cabinet of the Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church have announced the transfer of Rev. Karin Tunnéll, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Odessa, to Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro effective July 1.

A graduate of Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C., and celebrating her 20th year of Ordination, Pastor Karin has served St. Paul’s for the past 13 years.

She previously served at Aldersgate UMC in Wilmington and the Queenstown Charge on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

During her tenure at St. Paul’s she has been active in local and ecumenical ministry, national relief efforts through the United Methodist Committee on Relief and in international missions, especially in Nicaragua, serving the conference as the Volunteer in Missions Coordinator and Conference Secretary of Global Missions as well as other district and conference teams.

She has re-invigorated missional thinking at St. Paul’s to increase giving and participation in local, regional and international mission, including Habitat for Humanity, Our Daily Bread, the initiation of the Covenant Garden which offers fresh vegetables to over 70 area families each growing season, and giving away the Christmas Eve offering to local mission.

Pastor Karin has used her many artistic skills to further her ministry, combining her creativity and calligraphy skills with her love for music, singing and handbells to equip the St. Paul’s Worship Arts Team in providing vibrant worship to the congregation and community.

Pastor Karin’s last Sunday at St. Paul’s will be on June 24. The community is invited to come help say farewell to the congregation's beloved shepherd as she moves on in her faith journey to a new challenge.

The new pastor at St. Paul’s will be the Reverend Dr. Patrick B. Gordy-Stith who is coming from Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden, Delaware. Pastor Bo, as he likes to be called, will be begin his appointment on Sunday, July22. The community is invited to come help the congregation greet the new pastor.
