The one-vehicle crash happened on Dexter Corner Road Monday at about 5 p.m.

A 17-year-old boy was injured in a crash on Dexter Corner Road south of  Townsend Monday afternoon.

At about 5 p.m.,  New Castle County Paramedics, the Townsend Fire Company and American Legion Ambulance of Smyrna were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Dexter Corner Road.

When New Castle County Paramedics arrived, they found the patient in care of emergency medical technicians. He suffered injuries to his chest, shoulder and back, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell.

The patient was flown to Christiana Hospital on a Delaware State Police helicopter.

He was in serious condition at the time of transport, Russell said.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
