Special Olympics Delaware will host two sessions of its annual summer camp Aug. 4-6 and Aug. 12-14 at Camp Barnes, 37171 Camp Barnes Road, Frankford.

About 110 Special Olympics Delaware athletes and 70 volunteer counselors are scheduled to attend the two camps.

Campers participate in traditional camp activities — sports, canoeing, swimming, kayaking, boating and crafts, among others — while enjoying the opportunity to reacquaint with and meet new friends during the three-day, two-night camp experience.

During the first camp Aug. 4, 40 high school student-athletes statewide are attending as part of their experience at the annual Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Leadership Conference. In addition, more than 25 high school and college students are volunteering at the two camps as counselors. They will be joined by several adults volunteers also serving in counselor roles.
