HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Middletown, 250 E. Hampden Road, will host a community POW/MIA Chair of Honor dedication at noon Sept. 19.
The event will be held as part of the hospital’s National Rehabilitation Awareness Week activities, which will be observed Sept. 16-22. As part of this dedication, the hospital will add a POW/MIA Chair of Honor to its hospital to serve as a reminder to never forget those who are missing as well as to honor veteran employees, patients and visitors who have served our country.
The hospital leadership has worked alongside of the Delaware chapter of A Hero’s Welcome and the American Legion Riders Post 14 to coordinate these efforts. This chair, which is referred to as “one empty chair,” will be placed in the hospital’s foyer to honor the more than 90,000 POW/MIAs since World War I and serve as a reminder to the public to keep in mind the sacrifices and dedication of those who serve and those who did not return.
The dedication is open to the community and military veterans.
