Historic Odessa Foundation to host The Historic Odessa Foundation, 201 Main St., will an artist’s reception for two distinguished Delaware artists, Marilyn Bauman and Edward Loper Jr., from 1 to 3 p.m. June 8.
This reception is being held with the artists’ current exhibit of work, “The Keepers of Color: Paintings by Marilyn Bauman and Edward Loper Jr.,” on display through July 28 at the Historic Odessa Foundation’s Visitor’s Center Gallery.
“The Keepers of Color” exhibit celebrates the traditions of the Loper School of Art in Wilmington, and its approach to painting light, line, color and space in a modernist method. Bauman and Loper Jr. are exhibiting their artwork from their private collections, some on public display for the first time. Loper is the son of the renowned Delaware artist and educator Edward L. Loper Sr., founder of the eponymous school, and Bauman was one of his most devoted students.
Bauman will conduct a book signing of her two Loper-related books, “Not My Dad, Edward L. Loper, Jr.’s Creative Odyssey” and “Edward L. Loper, Sr., The Prophet of Color.”
