Denzel J. Massengill from Bridgeton, New Jersey was charged Friday for numerous cases of stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles in the Middletown area. Twenty-five incidents in Middletown Village and Millbranch were reported between Aug. 26 and Sept.3.

A New Jersey man was arrested and charged Friday for numerous cases of stolen motor vehicles and thefts from vehicles in the Middletown area.

Denzel J. Massengill from Bridgeton, New Jersey was charged with theft of three motor vehicles, five counts of third-degree burglary, resisting arrest and possession of burglar’s tools, according to a press release from the Middletown Police Department.

Prior to the arrest, 25 incidents of vehicle theft and stolen property from vehicles in the Middletown Village and Millbranch neighborhoods were reported to the police department between Aug. 26 and Sept. 3, according to the release.

Early Friday morning, the Middletown Police responded to a report of a suspicious suspect on Redden Lane and found Massengill breaking into vehicles, according to the release. Police said they recovered one of the stolen vehicles reported, which contained evidence linking the New Jersey man to several of the other incidents.

After the police received an additional warrant of Massengill’s property, he was charged on Saturday with an additional 21 counts of third-degree burglary and 22 counts of theft under $1,500.

Massengill is awaiting arraignment on the additional charges as of Saturday.

The police recovered a large amount of stolen property and the Criminal Investigation Unit is working to return the property to its owners.
