The nonprofit Historic Odessa Foundation, which owns and operates the museum properties the Historic Houses of Odessa, is calling on the community to donate old holiday ornaments and decorations, through Dec. 31, to help support the foundation’s Living History Education program and student workshops.
Funds from the resale of the donated holiday decorations, on Dec. 7 during the 55rd annual Christmas in Odessa, an event organized by the Women’s Club of Odessa, will directly support HOF’s Living History Education program that provides students in kindergarten through fifth grade a hands-on perspective of 18th and 19th century life in a rural American village. Although designed with Delaware teachers in mind, the program workshops have expanded to accommodate schools from other states, homeschoolers, youth organizations and summer camps.
Ornaments and Decorations can be dropped off anytime through Dec. 31 at Historic Odessa Bank/Visitors Center, Second and Main Street, Odessa.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays.
