New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer will join members of New Castle County parks department to host a public engagement meeting on projected park amenities at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at Appoquinimink Public Library, 651 N. Broad St., Middletown.

The meeting will consist of small group discussion as well as idea sharing.

The new 80-acre county park will be developed on a county-owned property on Shallcross Lake Road just off Marl Pit Road north of Middletown and reflects the Meyer administration’s commitment to make new park investments south of the C&D Canal to better meet the needs of residents in the county’s fastest-growing region.

New Castle County’s strategic park plan has long recognized the need for additional county parkland in the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend area as 30,000 residents live within five miles of the new park and the population is anticipated to grow.
