The Middletown Cavaliers were eliminated in the state semifinals Saturday, falling to Caravel Academy 11-1 in five innings.

Caravel took an early 3-0 lead in a first inning that was capped off by a Colin Adams two-run single.

Caravel’s bats stayed hot in the second inning, scoring three more runs led by a Brandon Fraley two-run double to increase their advantage to 6-1.

Adams’ two-run single in the fourth helped lead to five more Caravel runs, ending things after five innings.

Middletown finished the season 14-1 earning the No. 7 overall seed in the state tournament. The Cavaliers knocked off No. 10 DMA 6-5 to advance to the quarterfinals where they defeated No. 15 Sussex Tech 8-2 before falling to Caravel in the semifinals.
