No. 2 Sussex Tech advanced to the DIAA Softball Semifinals Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 7 Appoquinimink 4-1.
Tied at one in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Ravens gained their first lead of the game, tallying three runs in the inning. First, Morgan Petty smacked a solo homerun to give Tech the 2-1 followed by RBI singles from Nicole Hovater and Taylor Collins made it 4-1.
Taylor Wroten went the distance in the circle for Sussex Tech, allowing a run while scattering six hits.
Mackenzie Short also pitched a complete-game for Appo, allowing four runs off six hits in the loss.
Mallory Weir finished with the Lady Jags only RBI, knocking in Karina Atanacio for the game’s first run Wednesday.
The Lady Ravens will host No. 14 Lake Forest Thursday at 1 p.m. in the state semifinals.
