Appoquinimink improved to 2-1 on the season Friday night, knocking off Newark 40-7 in front of a homecoming crowd.

The Jags opened the scoring with a rushing score from Jayson Jeffers followed by a Kenyon Yellowdy 22-yard touchdown pass to Derek Thompson to give Appo a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Appo would more than double their lead in the second, scoring 20 points before the half thanks to scores from Thompson on the ground and two more touchdown passes from Yellowdy to Emmanuel Kenion and Jeffers.

The Jags are back in action next Saturday when they travel to take on Concord at 2 p.m.
